There are several different scrapbook techniques you can use to add interest to your photo mats. One way is to use decorative scissors. Most stories include five essential elements: who, what, where, when and why. Answering these questions can be a wonderful beginning to your journaling. Once you have the basics it becomes easier to fill in the details, adding feelings and descriptive words.

What was happening? Is there more to the story than is shown in the photo?
Where was the photo taken? Was it in a special or unusual place?
When was the photo taken? (year, day, season, occasion)
Why was this moment special?
